12-city tour hopes to deny 'abortion cartel' a foothold

A bus tour rolling through the state of Florida aims to ensure voters are fully educated about the dangerous impact of a proposed constitutional amendment on the November ballot.

The "Voice for Life Tour," sponsored by Florida Family Voice, is planning stops in 12 cities in the Sunshine State over the next three weeks. The purpose? To bring awareness to an abortion ballot initiative in Florida known as Amendment 4.

Aaron DiPietro, legislative director of Florida Family Voice, says the ballot initiative seeks to make abortion a right in Florida's constitution. As a result, Florida Family Voice is urging people to vote "no" on Amendment 4.

"It would decimate Florida's pro-life laws and absolutely set up an abortion cartel here in the state of Florida," he exclaims. "We're going to provide tools and resources for pastors and church leaders and community leaders to get the message out about the dangers of Amendment 4 here in the last month or so before Election Day."

DiPietro's organization contends the proposed amendment was "deceptively written" – and argues that it (1) gives abortion clinics "free rein" to approve abortions until the moment of birth, and (2) makes abortion the only medical procedure a minor can undergo without parental consent.

Florida requires 60% support for a ballot initiative to pass. But DiPietro says no one should rest on their laurels and assume such a high threshold means this initiative won't be approved.

"Some of the polling data out there does show the amendment support very close to the 60% threshold," he notes, "so again, every vote counts right now. I think that's why the Voice for Life Tour really is so critical at this time."

Florida Family Voice was formerly known as Florida Family Policy Council.
