In a little over a week, three Catholic colleges conferred honorary degrees upon leaders of medical institutions that either kill unborn children or train doctors to do so.
For example, C.J. Doyle of the Catholic Action League tells AFN Assumption University recently bestowed an honorary doctorate to Dr. Michael Collins, the chancellor of the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School.
"Last year, following demands from medical students, the school expanded its abortion curriculum, and it says, according to their Office of Communications, abortion has now been added for the first time to lectures as part of reproductive health curriculum for first- and second-year students," Doyle reports. "That includes covering the basics of medical and surgical abortion."
Likewise, Anna Maria College in Paxton awarded an honorary doctorate to Dr. Eric Dickson, who heads UMass Memorial Health.
"According to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, which actually tracks abortion data in the state, UMass Memorial Medical Center, which is the flagship hospital of this UMass Memorial system, performed 133 abortions in 2022, which is the last year for which statistics are available," Doyle notes.
Emmanuel College's commencement speaker was Jack Connors, chairman emeritus of Mass General Brigham, which performed 591 abortions in 2022.
The Catholic Church officially opposes all forms of abortion procedures.
