Another attempt to end PP's Medicaid funding

A Midwestern state is trying again to stop funds from going to the nation's largest abortion provider.

Republican lawmakers in Missouri are anxious to pass a bill that would ban Planned Parenthood's receipt of Medicaid funds.

Abortion is only legal in medical emergencies in the state, and as AFN has reported, the abortion provider's clinics in St. Louis and Kansas City have been caught coloring outside the lines to end the lives of preborn babies.

"Clinics in Missouri, they cross state lines in Illinois and Kansas, where they are doing abortions," explains Susan Klein of Missouri Right to Life. "We're just wanting to make sure that Planned Parenthood does not receive public dollars, because they are taking minors across state lines for abortions without the parents' knowledge or consent."

In other words, Planned Parenthood is accused of breaking the law.

"These are mandatory reporters," Klein notes. "If a minor is in a situation where she's been raped or perpetrator incest or human traffickers, these are mandatory reporters, and they are not reporting. They are actually helping the minor across state lines, so they're helping the people who are abusing the minor."

Two previous attempts to defund the abortion conglomerate failed in the courts, but members of the legislature are confident the latest proposal will withstand legal scrutiny.

"When you do business with an entity like a Planned Parenthood, you're ultimately subsidizing those abortion services, even if they are in other states," bill sponsor Rep. Cody Smith (R) said during a recent floor debate.

Meanwhile, Attorney General Andrew Bailey has filed a lawsuit against Planned Parenthood for its alleged illegal activities.
