Gov. Tim Walz, a Democrat, is overseeing an abortion-friendly state that promises women a “fundamental right” to abortion thanks to legislation he signed last year, the Protect Reproductive Options Act. That legislation, which blocks parents from knowing if a daughter is seeking an abortion, is apparently not enough for Walz who said this week he is open to a constitutional amendment.
Cathy Blaeser, of Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life, tells AFN Minnesota women are killing their unborn children at an alarming rate.
“We saw a 20% increase in abortions at the end of 2022,” she advises. “And the numbers that are coming out of abortion facilities and abortion groups right now indicate that 2023 will show 17,000 or more abortions just in Minnesota just in one year.”
That figure would mark a 50% increase over the 2022 figures.
In the liberal state, where Joe Biden reportedly defeated Donald Trump 52%-45%, Blaeser says pro-life citizens are not giving up the battle.
"We have seen an incredible increase in activism,” she says, “and our membership has gone up.”
A constitutional amendment for abortion must first be approved by the state legislature then go on the ballot for voters to decide.
