Life Choices, located in Longmont, was vandalized with threatening messages and set on fire the day after the U.S. Supreme Court handed down is landmark Dobbs ruling that overturned Roe v Wade.
Kathy Roberts, Life Choices executive director, tells AFN the facility was so heavily damaged from smoke that most of the furniture and computers were thrown out because they didn’t survive the fire.
“Fortunately, our ultrasound machine did,” she says.
The facility had to be gutted before the building could be renovated but Roberts says the restoration is expected to be completed in August.
Regarding the still-unknown vandals and arsonists, Roberts credits the local FBI office for investigating the attack and for increasing a cash award leading to the arrest and conviction.
“I can agree the higher up you get [in the FBI], where they're really not friendly towards pregnancy medical centers,” she says. “However, the local FBI are pursuing the case.”
In fact, because the case remains unsolved, the FBI increased its reward from $17,500 to $25,000.
In an FBI video released July 12, an FBI spokeswoman said the federal agency believes the suspects live in the Boulder area where other people probably know who they are.
“We are not giving up on this case,” the FBI woman, who is not identified, states.
