In 2018, Heartbeat International took over the Abortion Pill Rescue Network, a group of medical personnel throughout the country that can usually reverse a chemical abortion if their help is sought in time.
Spokeswoman Christa Brown, BSN, RN, says in the start, 450 babies were saved.
"In five short years of overseeing the Abortion Pill Rescue Network at Heartbeat International, we now have that number increased by 10 fold -- 4,500 babies," she tells AFN. "These are brave moms who, against all odds, choose life for their babies."
Brown says the reversal method is effective most of the time, if the process is started quickly enough.
"She starts the abortion. She takes that first pill, and then she has regret. We can get her progesterone right away," the pro-lifer explains. "We find this to be an emergency process that we need to help her as soon as we can. Typically, we give her oral progesterone, and the success rate is about 68%. So almost 70% of these babies can be saved."
Meanwhile, even under the best of circumstances, 1 in 5 women using the chemical abortion method ends up in the hospital because of hemorrhaging, incomplete abortions, or severe infections. So in addition to being fatal to preborn children, chemical abortion pills are dangerous the women.
