National Prayer Luncheon for Life spokeswoman Karen Garnett tells AFN the public has a role in determining the winners in next week's event.
"We invite everybody to help pick the winners of the 2023 Pro-Life Impact Award and the $100,000 in pro-life impact grants that we will be presenting, announcing live," she says. "The grant levels and the awards are based on votes from the entire pro-life community across the country."
The first-place honoree will receive a $50,000 grant. $20,000 will go to the second-place winner, and $15,000 will be given to the third-place honoree. The remaining honorees will each receive a $5,000 grant.
120 organizations were nominated this year, and the list has been whittled down to six finalists:
- Melissa Ohden of the Abortion Survivors Network, the only support and advocacy organization in the world for babies who have survived abortion,
- Josh Brahm of the Equal Rights Institute, a pro-life apologetics organization,
- Christopher Bell of Good Counsel Homes, a shelter that welcomes any pregnant mother,
- Joe Langfeld of the Human Life Alliance, which has reached 237.8 million people in every American state and on all seven continents with the truth about abortion,
- Dr. Monique Ruberu of Natural Women's Health, a "100% God-centered, pro-life, holistic, non-contraceptive-based, root-cause-seeking gynecology and fertility health organization," and
- Bridget Vanmeans of ThriVe Express Women's Healthcare, the first national counter brand to Planned Parenthood.
Votes must be in by tomorrow, April 15th, and pro-lifers are also encouraged to register to join the livestream of the April 21st prayer luncheon.
"Thousands of people who join us are the ones who are joining us virtually," Garnett notes.
The purpose of the event is to celebrate the work of pro-life organizations, both national and local, and to help finance their missions.
