Breitbart reports that among those refusing to comply are Alexandria City, Fairfax County, and Arlington Public Schools. Victoria Cobb of The Family Foundation of Virginia says other districts are still undecided but may ultimately defy Governor Glenn Youngkin's order as well.
"The fact that these school districts responded instantly meant that they didn't bother to see whether parents were pleased with the governor's executive order or not," Cobb submits. "The school board is expected to respond or to be responsive to parents."
Parents who support the executive order are confident Gov. Youngkin will not let the defiant districts get away with it.
"I think a lot of Virginians are just happy to see a governor that is fulfilling his campaign promises," says Cobb. "He said this was what he was going to do, and on day one he implemented it. I think he's going to stand behind it."
She is certain litigation will be needed to resolve the matter. In fact, Gov. Youngkin has already asked the Supreme Court of Virginia to dismiss a lawsuit challenging his executive order.
