Not all pro-lifers can make the trip to the national March for Life in Washington, D.C. on Friday, so some states are planning events in their capital cities.
Terri Herring of Choose Life Mississippi says the primary focus of the upcoming march in Jackson, Mississippi will be prayer.
"It's great to pray at home, and certainly many times the prayer closet is where we get much of the work done," Herring notes. "There are also many scriptural references to the public prayer."
The pro-lifer encourages people to participate this year particularly because Mississippi is prominent in the national pro-life scene now as a result of having a case before the U.S. Supreme Court -- Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization -- that involves a state law banning abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy.
"We need to be praying right now for our Supreme Court and just for our nation that their hearts will be turned towards righteousness and that they will embrace the opportunity to see abortion end as we know it in America and usher in a new era of respect for human life," she explains. "So, it's important for us to pray and to pray together."
Though it will likely be a chilly evening, she is expecting a good turnout on Saturday night.
"We are praying, and we're lighting a candle, and we're remembering the lives that have been lost through abortion," the pro-lifer relays. "And we're praying for an end to abortion.
Herring recently told American Family Radio's "Hour of Intercession" she is certain God is listening.
"When people engage, come and take a stand, it matters," she declared. "I think that a lot of times people don't understand the power of people coming together and praying together and making their presence known."
Herring believes God does answer prayer and says he often uses people as his soldiers to bring about an answer. With that in mind, she asserts he certainly has a ready army within the pro-life community.
