The Biden administration has nominated Robert Califf to serve as commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration. Califf previously served under President Barack Obama and helped move along the speedy approval of chemical abortions. That said, Prudence Robertson of Susan B. Anthony List tells AFN Califf would fit neatly into the current White House plans.
"The Biden administration is moving to permanently eliminate any and all federal safeguards on these pills," she begins. "And we assume that this Dr. Califf will be the person to do just that and allow that to happen due to his record and his complete disregard for women in the past."
AFN asked Robertson if Califf is responsible for directing the health agency to remove the requirements for reporting complications and deaths resulting from chemical abortions.
"Yes, yes. Right now, there's little to no reporting on these dangerous chemical abortion pills on the federal level," she responds, "and that is certainly due in part to the fact that restrictions were loosed during his tenure in the Obama administration. We don't expect that to get any better."
But that's only if he's confirmed as commissioner of FDA. Robertson says for that reason it is crucial for the states to take over the role of regulating the drugs and gathering stats on the harm caused for the sake of preventing women from complications, even death.
