According to The Washington Times, the Kash Patel-led FBI is starting an investigation into allegations that former director James Comey launched a "honeypot" operation to infiltrate the 2016 Trump campaign with two female agents. The term "honeypot" typically refers to an undercover agent (or agents) who act romantically interested in a target in order to draw out information.
The alleged operation, launched in 2015, was revealed by a whistleblower to the House Judiciary Committee and was reported to involve two agents acting as "honeypots" while traveling with the Trump team. The whistleblower claims Comey had ordered a probe into Trump and had "personally directed it" shortly after Trump announced he was running for president.
Sandy Rios is director of governmental affairs at the American Family Association and host of the Sandy Rios 24/7 podcast. During an appearance on American Family Radio Thursday, she weighed in on the controversy.

"Yeah! I think that James Comey absolutely sent two – probably beautiful – FBI agents into seduce, listen, mislead," she exclaimed. "What more could you say except that that's got to be treason? You're spying on … the duly elected president of the United States, elected by the people. And the FBI director sends spies in, wiretaps his phone and his family's phones. This is really like a piece of dynamite."
Rios is hopeful justice will ultimately be served. "Who knows if justice will happen – but I think the Justice Department and Kash Patel leading the FBI, I think they're kind of looking for that. So, I believe it's true, yes."
And Rios is optimistic the new leadership at the Justice Department is going to get to the truth about possible FBI involvement with the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot.
Digging into Jan. 6, 2021
Recently the House Judiciary Committee sent a 12-page letter to newly installed FBI Director Kash Patel, slamming the actions of the Bureau under President Joe Biden and former FBI Director Christopher Wray. And the committee let Patel know it's important that he succeeds in restoring public confidence and much needed transparency.
During her appearance on AFR, Rios praised the efforts of the Trump Justice Department team in trying to get to the truth about the Bureau's involvement in the January 6, 2021, protests at the Capitol.
"I think Kash Patel is more interested in what happened on January 6 than maybe Pam Bondi is," she shared. "But they're working together and there's such synergy between all these Cabinet secretaries. I view that as a very good thing …. I think we're going to get to the bottom of it."
And Rios shared another bit of good news related to one of the individuals who had been incarcerated for participating in the January 6 riot.
"Jeremy Brown, who was a Green Beret for 20 years and has been in prison for 1,300 days, something like that – was just released from a Florida prison. He was pardoned when President Trump pardoned him, but the DC jail would not let him out. It's been a complicated thing. I've been following it. I've been talking to and working with his attorney, but he got out. So that's really good news."
