Locals descended on Chicago's City Hall last week to voice their strong opposition to Mayor Brandon Johnson's (D) proposed $300 million property tax hike meant to cover the city's expensive shelters for illegal aliens. He had said the increase was necessary to avoid laying off city workers like police officers and firefighters as Chicago faces a nearly $1 billion budget gap.
"We paid for these properties for a purpose and not for you to go touching it with $300 million that you want to siphon out of the citizens' pockets," one angry citizen pointed out. "Get rid of the illegals!"
"The feds need to address you, DOJ needs to address you, and hopefully Donald Trump will address you," another voiced, calling he mayor a "criminal" for protecting the undocumented while allowing for the citizens in Chicago to suffer.
P. Rae Easley, founder and chair of ChicagoRED, was also there to protest the bullying from the mayor, whom the entire City Council voted against for the first time.
"100% of them said no," she is pleased to report. "That shows that the message of ChicagoRED is starting to permeate the consciousness of the City Council, which is our goal."
While Mayor Johnson's approval rating is just at 14%, one citizen relayed that 45% of Illinois voters, including 37% in Chicago, voted for Trump on Election Day, which means the state is turning purple and will soon be red.
The New York Post reports that several supporters of the president-elect were among the residents who addressed the mayor and City Council just before the unanimous vote. Wearing MAGA gear, they reportedly celebrated how Trump's victory means Johnson's liberal policies – particularly those assisting illegal immigrants – will face a reckoning.
Easley believes Trump's return to the White House means the 35,000+ illegal aliens in Chicago will soon be deported.
