Kamala Harris – who in the past has praised the "defend the police" movement numerous times – bragged last week that the group Police Leaders for Community Safety had come out and endorsed her and her running mate, Tim Walz. The group boasts a few dozen current and former law enforcement folks who were willing to put their names and reputations behind the Democratic ticket.
But there's a problem: no one, including Randy Sutton of The Wounded Blue, had ever heard of the group.
"In 34 years as a cop, I've never heard of them. I have no clue who they are," he tells AFN. "I looked them up, and they are clearly a partisan organization of police leaders who I've never heard of before."
Daily Caller reports that days after Fox News Digital described the new group as a "leading law enforcement group," Fox changed the headline and removed the word "leading" – noting Police Leaders for Community Safety "is comprised of former law enforcement leaders and not a leading group."
As it turns out, the group was launched in June 2024 by Gail Hoffman, a longtime Democratic operative who worked for John Kerry and Bill Clinton in the day and who has never had a job in law enforcement.
"They were clearly put up to be an endorser of Harris and Walz in a political move," Sutton contends.
According to Sutton, Harris and the Democratic machine had to manufacture a fake police group because they weren't going to get any law enforcement group to endorse them the old-fashioned way.
"Fraternal Order of Police [FOP] clearly came out in support of Donald Trump," he points out. "They know that Kamala Harris is a fake and a phony. They know that Tim Walz is completely anti-law enforcement, as evidenced by allowing the city of Minneapolis to burn."
In a September 6 statement, FOP announced its official endorsement of Trump this election cycle – pointing out he "easily cleared" the two-thirds benchmark of support from the organization's membership of more than 377,000.
"He led our nation through some very tough times," said FOP national president Patrick Yoes. "He provided our nation with strong, effective leadership during his first term – and now that he is seeking election to a second term, we intend to help him win it."
FOP, the largest law enforcement organization in the U.S., was founded in 1915. It endorsed Trump in both 2016 and 2020.
