An Ohio-based tea party activist suggests Vivek Ramaswamy should take a major step to put himself in position to become the next leader of the MAGA movement.

On the eve of tonight's debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden, buzz abounds about who the former president's running mate will be. Trump says he has made up his mind and that the person he has selected will attend the debate.

Trump has praised Vivek Ramaswamy – who removed himself from consideration as the GOP nominee in January – as a "smart guy" and has suggested future involvement of the successful business entrepreneur in his administration by saying "He's gonna be with us in some form."

However, some involved in the prediction business say Ramaswamy's chances for the VP nod have increased significantly.

Tom Zawistowski is president of the Tea Party-affiliated We the People Convention. While not arguing against Ramaswamy as Trump's running mate, Zawistowski suggests the 38-year-old entrepreneur needs to put himself in a position to be the future leader of the MAGA movement.

"We think Vivek should run for governor of Ohio," the activist tells AFN. "Because that's the easiest way for him to become president of the United States. It's steps like that that we're looking for – not shortcuts, not people who are just not going to be ready to lead."

Zawistowski warns it's going to take a 12-year process to undo Biden and the Democratic Party have done since the last presidential election.

"In the last three years, the Left has pushed us way, way, way to the left in every policy you can name," he emphasizes. "It's going to take time to push that way, way, way to the right, which the Republicans never do."

That's why he urges the GOP to look for "someone who's really solid" to follow Trump – "because it's going to be about passing legislation that changes this and ends it forever."

If he regains the White House come January, Trump would not be able to run for the office again.
