To Dems' dismay, swing states trending toward Trump

A conservative activist is encouraged by recent polls showing former President Donald Trump leading Joe Biden in key swing states by margins the activist says will be "almost impossible" for Democrats to overcome – even by cheating.

Polls continue to give Democrats heartburn. The latest CNN poll finds Donald Trump up by six points (49%-43%) over Joe Biden in a head-to-head matchup. The same CNN poll saw Trump's lead over Biden increase to nine points (42%-33%) when Independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and two other minor candidates were among voters' choices.

Gary Bauer is chairman of the Campaign for Working Families. He is also heartened by recent The Hill/Emerson polls in several key swing states. Those polls show Trump by 9 points in North Carolina, 6 in Georgia, 5 in Wisconsin and Nevada, and 4 in Arizona and Pennsylvania.

"… You're talking about margins of victory that are almost impossible for the Democrats to overcome even through cheating," Bauer tells AFN.

Bauer urges conservatives to stay focused on this election – "and do all the things that we can do still as free men and women, getting everybody in our families to understand what's at stake and then getting them all to vote."

In that same CNN poll, voters were asked to rate the presidencies of Biden and Trump. Sixty-one percent said Biden's presidency has been a "failure," while 55% said Trump's presidency was a "success."

But in Michigan …

The only Hill/Emerson poll in which Trump didn't hold a substantial lead was in Michigan, where just one point separated him from Biden. That confirms the suspicions of a conservative activist in Michigan who contends Kennedy's appearance on the 2024 presidential ballot could prove problematic for Trump.

Ron Armstrong, president of Stand Up Michigan, says polls show that many Michigan voters are dissatisfied with Trump but like the fact that Kennedy has been at the forefront of the medical freedom issue.

"[By] never mandating vaccinations against much of the COVID stuff … [Kennedy] has pulled off many more voters than we are acknowledging because of how it affected them," he explains to AFN. "Remember, that all happened in that last year under Trump."

Consequently, says Armstrong, three- to four-percent of Michiganders have decided they just can't vote for Trump because of what he did to them and their families.

The activist urges voters to understand that Trump, not Kennedy, will deliver freedom and liberty.

"… Those people who are looking to maybe move over to Kennedy need to understand he is a crazy environmentalist," Armstrong concludes. "And if you think climate change and those things are bad now, just put him in there and see how things look."

The Michigan Secretary of State's office confirmed earlier this month that Kennedy will be on the state ballot this fall.
