During a failed campaign speech in 2016, Hillary Clinton stated, "You could put half of Trump supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables."
Seven years later, the failed presidential candidate is still demeaning more than 40% of America. When she sat down with CNN's Christiane Amanpour for an interview last week, she took time to bash the former president before turning her sights to Trump's many supporters.
"Maybe there needs to be a formal deprogramming of the cult members," Clinton suggested.
Soon after, Fox News contributor Tammy Bruce noted the Naziesque echoes of those words.
"Should there be conversion therapy? I thought we were maybe against that," Bruce said. "How do you collect these people up? In a camp?"
Washington Times columnist Robert Knight likens Clinton's comments to the language of Communist China.
"They look upon anyone who disagrees with official Communist Party policy as an enemy of the state that needs to be deprogrammed," he tells AFN. "Apparently Hillary Clinton, who already denounced conservatives as deplorables, is mirroring the worst of the authoritarian regimes that won't allow any dissent."
The Democratic Party describes itself as "the party of inclusion."
"As Democrats, we respect differences of perspective and belief, and pledge to work together to move this country forward, even when we disagree … we do not merely seek common ground—we strive to reach higher ground," the official platform states.
Bruce assured "Hannity," however, that Clinton did not misspeak. She was also not being hyperbolic or speaking only for herself; she was speaking on behalf of the Democratic Party.
"Having come from the Left, and I urge people all the time to do this: Believe them," Bruce stated. "This is not because they got out of the wrong side of the bed or because they didn't have breakfast. Believe them."
Talk host Jeff Crank does not think deprogramming is what the Left is after; it's reprogramming.
"She wants you to think exactly the way she thinks," he submits. "If you don't, then you're evil, sick, or shouldn't be listened to."
Meanwhile, Knight cites Clinton's support of the teachers unions that "push indoctrination in the nation's schools with anti-American history, critical race studies, and sexually perverse curricula."
"If anybody needs to be deprogrammed, it's these poor students who have been subjected to Hillary's type of propaganda for years," the columnist contends.
