On Monday, Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) will be leading the hearing called "Victims of Violent Crime in Manhattan," where the Judiciary Committee will examine how Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's "pro-crime, anti-victim policies have led to an increase in violent crime and a dangerous community for New York City residents."
"I commend Chairman Jordan for taking the hearings to New York City," says Gary Bauer, chairman of the Campaign for Working Families. "It's the iconic American city. It's the city that the world sees and hears about more than any other city in America."
He adds, though, that it "is no longer the Big Apple; it's a big disaster. It's being swallowed up by out- of-control crime."
Fox News notes that Bragg took over as district attorney in January 2022 from Cyrus Vance, and the crime wave has only intensified under his watch. But instead of focusing on that, Bragg is devoting time and resources to his lawsuit against the Republican Party's frontrunner for the 2024 presidential nomination.
Meanwhile, the Democratic National Committee has announced that Chicago will host next year's Democratic National Convention – a decision that reportedly "stung" New York political leaders from both parties.
Bauer says the situation will not improve as long as the George Soros-supported Bragg remains Manhattan's district attorney.
"Chairman Jordan is doing exactly the right thing," he asserts. "I just hope that the police of New York will be able to provide him and the other committee members protection. As we're seeing daily, the radical Left, who are the stormtroopers for the Democrat Party, [are] disrupting conservatives and attacking anybody that speaks up for Judeo-Christian values, normalcy, and law and order – no matter where it is in the country."
But Bauer adds that Jordan is a fighter who will not back down.
