In a fiery speech last week, President Biden attempted to exploit the plight of a 10-year-old girl who had to travel out of her home state for an abortion after she was raped. Her the rapist, Gerson Fuentes, is a Guatemalan national.
After being arrested by Columbus, Ohio police, he confessed to raping the child on multiple occasions. A source with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) also told media outlets that it has placed a detainer on Fuentes, requesting that he eventually be handed over to the agency for removal proceedings. ICE later confirmed to Fox News Digital that Fuentes is in the U.S. unlawfully.
Ira Mehlman, a spokesman for the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), says Biden is to blame for leaving the borders wide open.
"This is perhaps the most egregious example of what happens when you have those sorts of policies," he submits. "This is a heinous story of a 10-year-old girl being raped by someone who shouldn't have been in the country in the first place."
But for the left and the media, the true crime is neither Fuentes' illegal residency nor the sexual abuse; the crime is that Ohio's pro-life policies required the child to travel to another state for the abortion – what one pro-lifer has described to AFN as a "band-aid solution."
"What he also neglected to tell the American public is that this was a guy who remained in the country because of policies that his administration has in place of refusing to enforce our immigration laws," Mehlman notes about Biden's speech. "You can't have it both ways. If the guy shouldn't have been here, then you have the responsibility for him having been here."
According to FAIR, "The Biden administration highlighted a heinous crime for political gain and then buried it the moment it highlighted a public safety problem that they are responsible for."
