The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey shows that 67% of likely U.S. voters believe abortion should not be legal past the first three months of pregnancy. That includes 24% who think all abortions should be illegal.
So June 24 was a day many pro-life warriors wondered if they would ever see. After nearly 50 years of prayers, marches, heated debates, and brutal confirmation battles, the Supreme Court finally overturned Roe vs. Wade, ruling that the Constitution incudes no "right to abortion."
"President Trump put a majority of the justices on the court who overturned Roe vs Wade," notes Gary Bauer, president of American Values. "Of the five justices, three of them were appointed by President Trump. He did more than any previously pro-life president to ensure that the court would reverse the terrible error that was made in 1973, when they incorrectly found that there was some sort of abortion right in the United States Constitution."
In January 2020, Trump became the first sitting president to attend a March for Life rally, where he told the crowd, "Unborn children have never had a stronger defender in the White House" and noted that "the Bible tells us each person is wonderfully made."
And last week, shortly after the Supreme Court's decision was released, President Trump credited God for the ruling.
"God made the decision," he told Fox News. "This brings everything back to the states, where it has always belonged."
Bauer says Republicans need to stand against the culture of death that has taken over the Democratic Party.
"I haven't seen Democrats this angry since Republicans took away their slaves," the American Values president submits.
The Republican Party, he adds, should not "tremble at the anger," because anyone who would vote to abort a baby in all nine months of the pregnancy "is not somebody that was ever going to vote for the Republican Party."
