While conservatives in Old Dominion are high-fiving Republican victories for governor, lieutenant governor, and attorney general, the state still has a Democrat-controlled Senate and it also has two liberal U.S. senators, Mark Warner and Tim Kaine.
Neither senator will be up for re-election in 2022, a race that would piggyback on a grassroots momentum that helped put GOP candidates in three state offices.
Bob Maginnis of the Family Research Council, who talks to American Family News about national security issues, is a longtime Virginia resident. On the issue of state politics, he says he exercises his First Amendment right and complains to both senators about President Biden’s agenda and issues such as the border crisis.
“And I've never heard back from Kaine,” he says. "I consistently get a formatted letter back from Warner.”
Sen. Kaine has a 96% “score card” with abortion giant Planned Parenthood and Sen. Warner has a score of 100%.
The conservative group FreedomWorks scores Sen. Kaine with a 20% score for the recent session of Congress. The group scored Sen. Warner 10%.
Maginnis says both men are “old-time Virginia politicians” who are finding themselves out of step with a growing majority of Virginians.
“If they continue to back Mr. Biden's every policy,” Maginnis predicts, “then they're going to have to find a new occupation than being a political leader for the state of Virginia."
