According to internal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives documents obtained by Gun Owners of America in the past year, the Biden administration has stockpiled the records of more than 54 million U.S. gun owners in 2021 alone and is prepared to take steps to ensure that information on Americans who own firearms ultimately ends up in the federal government's hands.
"Obviously Biden is trying to compile an illegal list of gun owners, a gun registry," says Mike Hammond, legislative council to Gun Owners of America. "I managed the McClure-Volkmer Firearms Owners Protection Act. We had a whole series of provisions in there making it illegal for the government to compile a gun registry, and nevertheless, they've gone ahead through a variety of means."
Hammond laments that securing a legal remedy has been problematic.
"The executive branch has for 20 years now basically been collecting data and putting together this de facto gun record, and we haven't yet found a court that's willing to say that's illegal under McClure-Volkmer," the attorney tells American Family News.
So he says there is a standing problem as well as an issue with trying to get the courts to take a stand on behalf of the Constitution rather than political correctness.
