International Christian Concern (ICC) has released its annual list of dishonorable persecutors. Spokesman Matias Perttula says the Taliban, North Korea's Jim Jong-un, and Nigeria are at the top of the list.
"The State Department, [the] United States Commission on International Religious Freedom -- all these various organizations [are] just shouting in unison that this is getting worse," Perttula continues. "Religious freedom is globally in decline, and Christians are the most persecuted religious group in the entire world."
But ICC does not understand why the U.S. State Department has removed Nigeria from its list, "Countries of Particular Concern," when the genocide against Christians is ongoing and the nation's government is doing little to thwart it.
"They have taken no sincere action, no meaningful action to curb any of the violence that the Christians are going through, so why would the administration move to take Nigeria off the list," he wonders, admitting that he has no idea. "There's no sound basis for that from a religious freedom perspective whatsoever."
Pertulla believes it would be appropriate for the public to contact the State Department and inquire about this decision.
