The remark from Attorney General Ken Paxton (R-Texas) came during the Thursday broadcast of "Washington Watch with Tony Perkins" – and was in response to these comments from Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas (pictured above) on ABC's "This Week."
Mayorkas: "We are addressing this issue vigorously and aggressively to address the number of encounters that we are experiencing at the southern border."
Host Martha Raddatz: "Just a simple question: Do you think it's working?"
Mayorkas: "I think that we are doing a good job. We need do better."
AG Paxton said they indeed are doing a good job – if their goal is to get as many illegal immigrants as possible into the U.S. and allow as much drug cartel activity and human trafficking as possible.
"In my opinion, they're basically in business with them, they're in partnership. They've opened the door to the cartels to make as much money as fast as they can, and they've encouraged them to do that," said Paxton.
"It's almost like the federal government is participating in organized crime – I'm going to say not almost, but they are," Paxton continued. "And the reality is a lot of Americans are dead or dying because of it, whether it was from COVID originally or now from drug overdoses and other crimes."
Numbers USA – an immigration reduction group – told AFN earlier this week that by not enforcing what's known as the "Remain in Mexico" policy and allowing large numbers of people to cross the border illegally, the Biden administration is effectively breaking federal law.
