As reported on AFN, Texas Governor Greg Abbott has introduced several innovative state enforcement strategies and $4 billion budget to try to contain the massive illegal alien invasion brought about by Biden's open borders policy.
The governor of Texas, citing the illegals being dumped in cities across the state, has also vowed to bus illegal aliens to Washington, D.C. and literally drop them off at the U.S. Capitol.
The invasion is expected to get much worse if the Biden administration moves ahead with plans to allow the Trump-era Title 42 public health rule to expire next month.
Todd Bensman of the Center for Immigration Studies says Arizona's Republican governor doesn't have the same commitment to border enforcement as his Texas counterpart. Arizona’s state leader, for example, has never put Dept. of Public Safety officers near the U.S.-Mexico border, he points out.
“He's busy putting together 17 pallets of Arizona DPS army uniforms and bulletproof vests for the Ukrainian border,” Bensman says of Ducey. “Using the Arizona Department of Emergency Management for that instead of preparing for the biggest onslaught in American history that's about to start up down there on his border.”
Ducey is not running for re-election due to term limits but Kari Lake, a GOP gubernatorial primary candidate, has pledged to finish the border wall and defend the state from the flood of illegals.
Gov. Abbott, meanwhile, is also being praised by a second immigration-watching group, the Federation for American Immigration Reform.
Ira Mehlman, a spokesman FAIR, tells AFN the governor is attempting to send a symbolic message to the Biden administration about unchecked illegal immigration. Even if a small number of illegals are taken to D.C., he says, it draws attention to the problem and to who is responsible for it.
"It is [Abbott's] state," Mehlman says, "that is paying a disproportionate price for it."
