A recent memo issued by U.S. Customs and Border Protection calls on Border Patrol agents to volunteer to travel to Poland to help “facilitate travelers for entry into the U.S.”
Ira Mehlman, a spokesman for the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), says the State Department and other federal agencies should helping refugees without help from the Border Patrol.
“The idea that we're going to pull Border Patrol agents off our southern border, while we have a crisis down there of Biden's own making, and divert them to Europe,” Mehlman complains, “simply doesn't make any sense.”
According to a Rasmussen poll, which surveyed voters about the border and Ukraine, Republican voters chose the U.S. border of Ukraine 4 to 1, and swing voters chose the U.S. border over Ukraine 56%-33%.
Among Democrats, two-thirds told the polling firm Ukraine is more important than the U.S. border.
Mehlman and FAIR have documented the Biden administration’s rollback of Donald Trump’s get-tough policy on illegal immigration. Biden's executive orders opened up the U.S.-Mexico border like a gate swinging wide, and approximately two million illegals have been apprehended by the Border Patrol since Biden took office.
“We're already short-staffed down there,” Mehlman says of the Border Patrol. “You've had a lot of people who have left those jobs because they've just gotten fed up with the Biden policies."
