Israel has responded in full force to the Hamas attack in which terrorists butchered Jewish civilians, including infants, and took more than 200 hostages. In response, the U.S. has so far contributed by sending two aircraft carriers to assist Israel.
Franklin Graham of Samaritan's Purse is certain the conflict is not over, and his ministry is committed to doing what it can to help those in need.
"This is very serious, and this could escalate into something much broader, much bigger," he recognizes. "The Iranians are saying they're not going to sit on the sidelines if Israel attacks Gaza. This thing could mushroom into something much bigger."
For that reason, Samaritan's Purse has sprung to action and is prepared to get more involved.
"We have a number of [Christian] partners in the area, both Jewish and Palestinian, and we're working with our partners," Graham reports.
As humanitarian access to Gaza is impossible right now, those already in the area will be providing food, water, and other necessities within the sealed boarders.
Graham has also written Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with an offer to ship the ministry's field hospital unit to help treat people injured in the conflict.
"In case something happens, and we're needed, we can load up our field hospital, and we can have doctors and nurses on the ground hopefully within 48 hours after they call us," he says.
Most importantly, Graham asks that people pray for Jerusalem and for Israel because that it what the Bible prescribes, which means it is also the right thing to do.
