If Joe Biden has his way, then he will cede control of the nation's sovereignty and authority to the World Health Organization (WHO).
As AFN has reported, the UN-affiliated WHO is negotiating with 194 countries, including the US, to have an international accord in place by May 2024. Mat Staver, founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel, says it would give an unelected body, heavily influenced by Communist China, the power to declare a health emergency on a whim and force Americans to wear masks, take dangerous injections, and even shut down churches.
"Essentially what we would have is a one-world centralized government controlled and operated by Marxist ideology," he explains. "The United States would be legally bound to follow their directives. That's why it's so serious."
But President Biden is trying to bypass the Senate to make it happen.
"The Biden administration is trying to say that this doesn't need to go through the treaty vote in the United States Senate, which requires two-thirds majority," Staver reports. "I think it clearly … affects our individual rights. Senator Dick Durbin, a Democrat from Illinois, has admitted that this is, in fact, a treaty; this is indeed a treaty."
So he says Congress must act by "wiping out the WHO from any funding, which the House can do, and demanding that this come before the US Senate for a vote."
Like Staver, the founder of a Minnesota-based ministry is concerned about giving WHO the authority to control U.S. policies during a pandemic. "It's a huge power grab," said Jan Markell of Olive Tree Ministries told American Family Radio this week.
The Associated Press did what it calls a fact check on this issue and determined the claims about the U.S. handing over sovereignty to be false:
"The voluntary treaty, which is in draft form and is still far away from ratification, does not overrule any nation's ability to pass individual pandemic-related policies, multiple experts, including one involved in the draft process, told The Associated Press. The treaty lays out broad recommendations related to international cooperation on pandemic prevention, preparedness and response. Nowhere in the 30-page document are lockdowns, closures or specific citizen surveillance systems mentioned."
Markell acknowledges other articles like this exist, but encourages people to look at who is reporting the information.
"It's all the hard-left in journalism; it's nobody who wants to tell the truth, whatsoever," said Markell. "Dr. James Dobson did a series with Michelle Bachmann [listen below]. Thankfully, that [issue] comes up. So, the truth is able to be found – but you have to go through 20 links of untruths to come to the truth if you are going to search Big Tech."
