In October, the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) held its annual Midwifery Works Conference – and apparently the ACNM has joined the ranks of groups sold out to abortion. For several years, the Nurse Midwife Free subsection of the American Association of Pro-Life OB/GYNs (AAPLOG) had a display at the conference – but this year they were rejected.
Spokeswoman Elizabeth Morton tells AFN that after the rejection, the midwifery group learned of being accepted.
"And we went ahead and put in the paperwork and paid the fee to have an exhibit," she explains. "[But] then maybe a week later they actually reached out again and said … We are not going to let you come and we will refund you because you don't align with our policies."
The policy of concern, says Morton, makes it clear that ACNM supports abortion. The pro-life midwife had a response to offer.
"[I asked]: If a woman chooses to continue a pregnancy, why would we not allow her that choice? That's a choice, too," she shares. "We should give them all the options, all the choices – not just one choice. You're not pro-choice. You're pro-abortion."
According to the CEO of AAPLOG, already there is a threat to decertify pro-life OB/GYNs who refuse abortion – and the effort to exclude midwives who support life for preborn babies may be an indicator of a future effort to push pro-life medical personnel out of the profession.
