'Culture Warrior' catches annual film festival's eye

A premier project from the pro-family organization founded by the late Don Wildmon has been nominated for two awards.

"Those who control network television are purposely trying to reshape our society to reflect their own narrow religion: a religion of secularism, materialism, and humanism," Don Wildmon warned.

The documentary, "Culture Warrior: Don Wildmon and the Battle for Decency," tells the story of how the American Family Association (AFA) came to be what it is today in the ongoing battle against the evils of the modern world, particularly in media and from those who target children.

The project has officially been nominated for best documentary and most creative documentary at the International Christian Film and Music Festival in Orlando Florida.

Perkins, M.D. Perkins

M.D. Perkins, research fellow of church and culture and director of the film, says, "'Culture Warrior' is such an important project for AFA. It tells the history of why Christians have been involved in the culture war from the '70s and '80s onward to today.

Don Wildmon worked for "a better society, a better nation in which to live and raise our children," and Perkins says anyone who takes the time to watch the movie will recognize "a lot of principles that we are still using in our current culture war fights, even today."

He explains that larger scale documentaries like this involve a lot of work and take several years to make, so when they release, "you want it to have a large impact, more than just one of the smaller videos you might make for social media or those kinds of things."

As the International Christian Film and Music Festival approaches, Perkins says it is "special" and "very rewarding" to have the crew's hard work and creativity recognized with the other nominees.

Meanwhile, (AFA) remains on the frontlines of the culture war and continues to enlist the support of God-fearing Americans who refuse to be intimidated into silence by anti-God enemies of the family.
