When the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe vs. Wade on Friday, June 24th, Susan B. Anthony (SBA) Pro-Life America posted a TikTok video congratulating the pro-life movement for the success. But shortly afterward, TikTok permanently banned the organization.
Spokeswoman Franchetta Groves reports that TikTok said it restored services in just a few minutes.
"That was not our experience," she asserts. "We tried to log into our account multiple times on Friday afternoon, and we never got any email letting us know that we were reestablished. We were not able to log back into our account until Saturday, afternoon time."
TikTok did not let the pro-life organization know its account had been removed or why it was banned.
"So going forward, we really don't have any guidelines to follow or anything to know to follow their outlines for what we should do in the future," Groves relays. "We really don't know why we were banned or what we can do in the future to avoid this happening again."
Since TikTok has taken the same action against other pro-life organizations, and since it happened just after the Supreme Court overturned Roe vs. Wade, SBA Pro-Life America is inclined to believe it was another case of censorship. (See related stories here and here)
