Parents of the Vista Unified School District are demanding school officials be more transparent and accountable by informing them ahead of time what their children are being taught.
Dean Broyles of the National Center for Law and Policy is representing them.
"It's bad when it happens to high schoolers, but unfortunately this kind of thing is happening to younger and younger students as the LGBTQ sexual identities are being kind of discussed and kind of forced on kids, and kids are being taught that if they're not affirming and accepting that they're bigots."

To their credit, Broyles says some students chose to walk out of class rather than be subjected to that type of indoctrination.
He says not telling parents about such lessons and denying them the right to opt out violates the California Youth Health Act and the U.S. Constitution.
“But the travesty here is a lot of these programs are being implemented secretly and covertly without notifying parents, and teachers believe that they can do it without notifying parents."
