Latest illegal-involved death leaves migrant with a court date, family frustrated

A popular Detroit pastor was hit and killed by a car driven by an illegal alien earlier this month.

Now the family is looking for answers after the illegal was released into the community with nothing but a court date.

Pastor Stephen Singleton was wearing a reflective vest and was crossing the street in a crosswalk when a man identified only as a 28-year-old Columbian national who was in the country illegally hit and killed him. His wife Teri told local TV station Fox 2 in Detroit that almost every bone in his body was broken, still he hung on for several days.

“I had to sit and watch my husband of 53 years die in front of me, and then to know that the person who did this is walking around. It’s very difficult to deal with. He's dead and they're walking around. That's bothering me,” she said.

No arrests have been made in the case. Authorities presented the case to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office on Friday, which is reviewing the case and will determine whether any charges will be filed against the driver, Fox News reported.

Come back on this date please

The local DA released the driver after giving him a date to show up in court.

It's not the first time illegals have received preferential treatment with law enforcement officials.

Sutton, Lt. Randy Sutton

The Singleton case, apparently accidental, comes as Americans are still processing the violent death of nursing student Laken Riley on the University of Georgia campus.

Web searches reveal at least 13 known cases involving the deaths of U.S. citizens at the hands of an illegal immigrant.

Singleton's daughter Ruth is trying to do right by her father.

“I refuse to be angry. I will still love like my dad taught me to,” she said.

Randy Sutton of the Wounded Blue says Detroit bears some responsibility for the death, because it refuses to cooperate with immigration authorities to remove illegals.

“Why wasn't he turned over to ICE as a criminal alien? That’s because of the sanctuary city from the politics,” Sutton said.

Biden policy leads to another death

Sutton says the list is long and growing of US citizens who are suffering because of the Biden administration's nonexistent border policy.

“He unfortunately joins hundreds, if not thousands of people whose lives have been cut short because of the failed policies of the Biden administration.”
