The doctors in this case, members of the American College of Pediatricians, are suing with the help of Alliance Defending Freedom attorneys to stop a new rule that requires doctors to perform body-altering surgeries on patients, including young children.
The rule, released in May, came from the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services to force hesitant doctors to comply with so-called "gender-affirming" care. That medical description, a talking point from transgender ideology, includes giving body-altering hormones and performing body-chopping surgeries to people suffering from mental illness.
The rule threatens to impose financial penalties on doctors and exclude doctors from participating in federal programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, and CHIP.
DHS also currently employees an assistant secretary of health, "Rachel" Levine, a man who dresses as a woman.
A story by The New York Times, published in June, revealed that Levine (pictured below) pressured a transgender medical group, WPATH, to drop any mention of minimum age limits for children from its "Standards of Care" document.
The lawsuit is the third one filed by ADF against the Biden administration related to medicine. It includes the states of Missouri, Utah, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Idaho, and Arkansas as plaintiffs.
The legal complaint was filed in federal district court in Missouri.
ADF attorney Julie Marie Blake tells AFN the lawsuit was filed because a physician should not be forced, by the government, to permanently harm a child.
"Worse, it seeks to force insurance companies including state insurers like Medicaid to pay for these harmful procedures,” she says.
