One of the victims is currently blind in one eye and has fractured fingers, bruises, and contusions over the rest of his body, some of which will likely require surgical correction.
"These pro-life advocates desperately need some legal help after being assaulted," LifeNews.com Editor Steven Ertelt said just after the attack. "The assault was absolutely horrific. This is one of hundreds of attacks that's happened on pregnancy centers, pro-life people, [and] churches across America."
Olivia Summers, senior litigation counsel for the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), says after hearing the story, her firm decided to jump in and do whatever it could to help.
"The ACLJ is now proudly representing two elderly men, Mark Crosby (73) and Dick Schaefer (84), who were brutally attacked and beaten unconscious by a pro-abortion radical on Friday, May 26, 2023," the legal group soon announced.
"There's a lot that goes on in Baltimore, and the police have a lot on their plate," Summers recognizes. "We want to make sure that they pursue justice in this case, so we're going to be working with them to make sure that this doesn't get lost in the shuffle."
Meanwhile, ACLJ is looking into civil charges against the assailant.
"Right now, he's at large," Summers reports. "The police haven't identified him, and he's still free and roaming around somewhere, so we're going to do everything we can to figure out his identity and move forward with legal action on behalf of both of our clients so that they can have some justice here."
Her legal group is also looking into whether the man was known to Planned Parenthood -- if he is a regular who is somehow associated with them, or if he was just a random stranger. Depending on the answers to those questions, there is potentially other legal liability.
