Tyler O'Neil, managing editor of The Daily Signal, says 16 states – California, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming – are still forcing gender ideology on public school kids, indoctrinating even kindergarteners in the "joys" of being transgender and offering transgender "medicine" for minors.
"In each of these states, there are state level policies that essentially require schools to teach kids about gender ideology and to really indoctrinate them with this false notion that there is an internal sense of gender that supersedes a person's biological sex," he tells AFN.
In its report titled "Gender Ideology as State Education Policy," The Heritage Foundation highlights those standards and frameworks.
O'Neil says even simply teaching children that "gender identity" may be different from biological sex carries the risk of setting kids on a destructive path. Though parents adamantly oppose this, O'Neil thinks they realize their kids need to know such ideology is out there.
"Ultimately, that should be a decision for the parents to make to educate their kids when they're old enough to understand," he contends.
He says parents should be able to remove their children from any such indoctrination and advises conservatives and Christians to explore their school choice options.
