Under the school's National Center for Gender Spectrum Health, the program is targeting five- and 10-year-olds and their parents to play with "transgender dolls" as a "therapeutic tool."
The children were offered between $20 and $60, according to an Instagram post recruiting participants, The Daily Wire reported.
“We are looking to hear from transgender and gender diverse children between the ages of 5 and 10 years old and their parents about a new hands-on activity to help talk about gender and bodies!” reads the post, according to The Daily Wire.
It's unclear how many, if any, children have participated in the program so far.
Laurie Higgins of Breakthrough Ideas compares the toys to Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head dolls.
"You can take out one part of a doll, and that shows us anything about reality? Gender identity just refers to one's feelings about one's maleness or femaleness. So how does taking a Mr. Potato Head Barbie doll and moving her, the body parts around, tell us anything about one's feelings?"
Higgins says the Spectrum Center doesn't use facts but uses dogmatic leftist theories not based in reality.
The National Center for Gender Spectrum Health is part of the Human Sexuality program at the University of Minnesota’s medical school.
The Center has also produced a handbook to “support sexual pleasure education” for biological men who have had transgender genital surgery, The Daily Wire reports.
Hard to follow the money
"These are not facts. But, of course, five-to-10-year-olds are completely incapable of understanding these ideas, and this is an obnoxious, poisonous activity the center is doing, and they better not be getting public money for it."
It's common for such centers to receive funding from a mix of public and private sources.
