After making inappropriate remarks to her class, a parent notified the Liberty Counsel about the teacher. Mat Staver, the founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel, then sent a letter to the district reminding them she is prohibited from using her position to politically influence students.
"Among other things, she told students at this late Brantley High School in Seminole County, which is in Central Florida, that Trump hates black people and women. Black people will be deported back to where they came from."
Liberty Counsel’s letter notes the teacher specifically told students:
- “Trump hates black people and women.”
- “Black people will be deported back to where they came from.”
- “If anyone is recording, they will write her or him up.”
After several students and parents informed school administrators about the teacher’s political comments, school officials stated they are investigating the matter of potentially inflammatory
remarks being discussed outside the teacher’s scope and authority.
The teacher painted a grim picture of the next four years for people of color in America, according to The Liberty Counsel.
“If you are not white, you are going to be in trouble over the next four years as far as the living situation of the United States, and I’m not kidding,” the teacher told her classroom. “They’re talking about deporting people, and if you’re from Central America, they want to deport you. If you’re from South America, they want to deport you…He’s talking about deporting Black people back to Africa. I don’t know why he thinks they have any place to go when you guys were born in the United States, most of you.”
Not a newcomer to hate
Staver says this is not the first time this teacher, who is a minority, has made such derogatory and race-based statements.
“She has completely lost it over the issue of Donald Trump, and so they resort to lies and fear and dividing on the basis of race. That kind of rhetoric can cause a lot of problems within the student body."
Following the investigation by the district, Staver believes she should be fired because her statements have no place in the classroom.
