"Unfortunately, without question, Satan Clubs in public schools are on the rise all across the country," says Brad Dacus, president of Pacific Justice Institute. "We cannot be in denial about this."
The supposed purpose of the clubs is to challenge public schools that allow faith-based student clubs, such as Cru and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
In interviews, the self-described Satanists often claim they are non-religious and don’t literally worship Satan, though their true motives are suspect since their idol is known as the “Father of Lies.”
To address the issue, Dacus and PJI are hosting a Zoom call tomorrow, August 23, to describe the movement, address parents’ concerns, and explain how communities can respond to the clubs.
"What man means for evil, God often means for good,” Dacus tells AFN. “And we see a tremendous evangelism opportunity coming about in response to these Satan Clubs that have to be taken seriously."
In other legal news, Dacus tells AFN a PJI attorney successfully defended Chad Green, a controversial public school board member in McKinney, Texas. After winning office in 2021, Green has kept his parental rights pledge which has angered and frustrated fellow board members. He has now survived an attempt to remove him or censure him thanks to PJI attorney Emily Cook, who represented Green.
“We got the censure blocked, and the Texas Ethics Commission ruled in favor of Chad Green and his rights to expose what he exposed before the state legislature,” Dacus says.
