Matt Lamb of The College Fix tells AFN pro-life students at Clemson University endured some hateful and over-the-top rhetoric leading up to Kristan Hawkins' recent visit to the South Carolina university.
"The [Tigers] for Life club president, Grace Talley, she said that someone said they wanted to smash her face into the concrete," Lamb details. "They also reported to the campus police that peers were planning to blow them up, whether that means the event or the members."
Lamb is a former employee of Students for Life of America, of which Hawkins is president, and says the frenzied protests were really about trying to silence the conservative group.
"Maybe they can't stop this event – and as far as I know, this event happened at Clemson – but if they can scare enough students, then students won't show up," he suggests. "Maybe they won't want to host events in the future."
Tigers for Life expected an on-site protest at the event, but they welcomed all perspectives to join, listen, observe, learn and debate, because they know truth and science are on their side.
Hawkins told American Family Radio earlier this month that she was not surprised at the left-wing backlash after Roe v. Wade. It is ultimately a good thing, she said, for the issue to be discussed and debated, even if there is a fear of violence.
Despite the threats and other issues leading up Hawkins' visit, there were no reports of disruptions or violence at the November 16th event, which was the last stop of her "Make Abortion Illegal Again" tour.
