A conservative, pro-Israel activist is concerned by the growing anti-Semitism in the U.S. among teachers' unions.

United Educators of San Francisco has publicly endorsed the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement. The resolution approved last month by the 6,000-member union declared their support for the Palestinian people and accused Israel of committing "apartheid and war crimes." Specifically, the resolution stated:

"… As public school educators in the United States of America, we have a special responsibility to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people because of the 3.8 billion dollars annually that the U.S. government gives to Israel, thus directly using our tax dollars to fund apartheid and war crimes …. Therefore, be it resolved, that United Educators of San Francisco (UESF) express our solidarity with the Palestinian people and call for Israel to end bombardment of Gaza and stop displacement at Sheikh Jarrah."

UESF also called on the Biden administration to cut off aid to the Jewish nation.

Gary Bauer is chairman of the Campaign for Working Families and a longtime supporter of Israel.

"The San Francisco teachers' union singled out Israel – not communist China, which is engaged in genocide; not Syria, where their government has killed hundreds of thousands of their own people," he points out.

"The only country that the San Francisco teachers' union is singling out to boycott is the one democratic free nation in the Middle East; the only Jewish nation in the world, the homeland of the Jews – which is Israel."

San Francisco isn't alone, according to Bauer, who points out other educators taking similar anti-Semitic steps.

"The Los Angeles Teachers Union is going down the same road – [and] a A New York City principal put out a message to all of the staff urging them to attend demonstrations promoting the Palestinian cause," Bauer tells One News Now.

"So, we see increasingly that the Left in this country is infected with the ancient evil of anti-Semitism – and they need to deal with it. The Democratic Party needs to deal with it."

Fox News quotes several parents in the San Francisco district who are questioning not only the timing of the resolution so soon after students returned to in-person class in April, but also the safety threat it poses for Jewish students.

Both the San Francisco and Los Angeles teachers' unions are affiliated with the American Federation of Teachers.
