As reported recently by AFN, Patricia Silva of Fairbanks, Alaska, posted a video that has since gone viral:
Silva: "I just came out of Planet Fitness. There is a man shaving in a women's bathroom. I realize he wants to be a woman, he gets to be a woman, I love him in Christ, he's a spiritual being having a human experience, he doesn't like his gender, so he wants to be a woman. But I am not comfortable with him shaving in my bathroom."
Silva went back the following day to record and post these comments:
Silva: "I came in Monday. There was a man in the women's locker room shaving. A little girl sitting in the corner – she could have been 12 years old; I do not know how old she was – in a towel, kind of freaked out that there's a man shaving in her locker room.
"Well, I was offended. I took a picture of him, and I asked him, 'Why are you there?' He justified by saying 'I'm queer, LGB,' and I said, 'You shouldn't be in the women's locker room.'
"Well, I left. This morning, I got canceled. Planet Fitness is defending the man in the women's locker room … rather than the child sitting in the corner with a towel wrapped around her …. This is weird. It's not good. It's rather disturbing."
American Family Association (AFA) has since launched a petition urging the company to stop allowing biological males into women's dressing rooms and shower areas. AFA executive vice president Ed Vitagliano made these comments recently on American Family Radio.
"Planet Fitness is getting an earful. Their stock has tanked as a result of this. I think they're down $400 million," he stated. "I don't know whether it'll keep going down, whether women will see fit to boycott …. We're asking folks to sign our petition to ask Planet Fitness to reverse course on this."
In 2015, a Michigan woman sued her local Planet Fitness after discovering a man who claimed to be transgender in the women's locker room. Like in this situation, the company defended the man. She sued, and after several years of litigation, a court ruled in her favor, finding that the gym was at fault for violating the Consumer Protection Act.
Planet Fitness' stated mission is "to enhance people's lives by providing a high-quality fitness experience in a welcoming, non-intimidating environment, which we call the Judgement Free Zone, where anyone – and we mean anyone – can feel they belong."
Vitagliano says the popular exercise outlet has a choice to make. "They are completely woke," he says, "and we're going to find out whether or not that hurts them in the end."
