History is replete with heroes of the faith who seemed to move mountains. William Wilberforce ended slavery in the U.K., and Billy Graham called the world to Christ. Even Galileo mapped the cosmos to proclaim the glory of God.
But Alex McFarland asserts that Christians do not need fame to change the world.
"Each one of us can make a difference in this world," he says. "Ultimately, the One that this world needs is the Lord Jesus Christ, but He works in and through His followers."
To play a part in bringing about revival, McFarland writes in a recent blog post that people must get right with God, lead others to God, then influence the world for God.
"Christians, people that first and foremost … believe in Jesus and they follow Christ – they've made incredible contributions in science, technology, medicine, the arts, [and] even in things like architecture, literature," the apologist notes.
So in a world so saturated by evil, it is every Christian's job to hold to the Truth and call out what is false.
"Christians have been – quote – 'the conscience of the culture,'" McFarland notes. "A big role in the Church is also to restrain evil, to call out and correct that which is false."
While he recognizes that that may seem like a daunting task, McFarland asserts that God will give his people the tools, the courage, and the strength required to make a difference.
