Biden said he and Vice President Kamala Harris are doing everything they can to protect “access to reproductive health care,” meaning making abortions easier to obtain, after numerous states passed pro-life laws following the landmark Dobbs ruling last summer.
Biden mentions COVID-19 'emergency' in SOTUChris Woodward, AFN.net President Biden took a victory lap for overcoming the Covid-19 virus during his State of the Union address even though the United States remains under a “public health emergency” through the next three months. "Thanks to the resilience of the American people, and the ingenuity of medicine,” Biden stated, “we've broken the Covid grip on us." Despite the China-born pandemic being in the past, the White House opposes a congressional bill that would end a vaccine mandate for foreign travelers coming to the U.S. 
Biden went on to promise to “soon” end the public health emergency, which is set for May 11. Twila Brase, who leads Citizens' Council for Health Freedom, says it is possible by saying “soon” Biden was referring to May 11 but failed to say the date. “The other unfortunate possibility is he is giving himself some wiggle room to extend it beyond May 11,” she concludes. “I would hope that's not what the administration is doing, and I would have been more reassured about that if he had just said May 11." |
“Here in the people’s House, it’s our duty to protect all the people’s rights and freedoms,” Biden also said, though “all” people was not referring to unborn children, and probably never will, in a speech by a modern-day Democrat.
“It's really sad,” says Carol Tobias, of the National Right to Life Committee, “that the deaths of innocent unborn children are a top priority for the president.”
Not only did Biden extol abortion, some Democrats proudly put on an “Abortion” pin (pictured at top) before entering the House chamber for the address. The pins, provided by abortion giant Planned Parenthood, include a literal heart in the logo.
“Abortion is essential healthcare,” Sen. Ed Markey, a Democrat from Massachusetts, stated in a tweet, “and we need to codify this right.”
"This is sick and depraved. Celebrating the killing of innocent unborn children,” Mike Huckabee, the former Arkansas governor, tweeted in response to the pins.
Matthew Whitlock, a Republican activist, commented in a similar tweet the Democratic Party has evolved from “safe, legal and rare,” a reference to President Bill Clinton’s presidency, to smiling while wearing a heart-shaped abortion pin. President Clinton, who was a master at politics, is credited with coining the poll-tested phrase for his 1992 presidential campaign to win over moderate Democrats. The phrase is now considered a relic of the past by abortion supporters who say they are proud of their abortions and despise the phrase.
“What a time to be alive,” Whitlock tweeted.
Tobias says she was alarmed to witness President Biden brazenly tell the American public Democrats want to overturn those state-level abortion laws with passage of the Women's Health Protection Act.
“Our opponents, those people who don't care about protecting unborn children, or their mothers, are just kind of going crazy,” she concludes.
