AFN has reported on the standoff in Campbell County, Wyoming, where citizens spoke out when they learned sexually graphic book were on display for children in the Gillette Public Library.
Dan Becker of Wyoming Mass Resistance tells AFN two of the books have been moved to the adult section, and away from the innocent eyes of children, but he says the pushback has produced more results than that. A county commissioner has stepped down and then the county administrator quit, too.
“And then we also had the head of the library board, first she resigned from being the head of the board,” Becker says. “And then she resigned completely from the board.”
The resignations didn’t come without pushback: Last fall, the county commission voted 3-2 to end public comments because of the parade of county residents who took turns complaining about the books and the pro-LGBT stance of the library.
Mass Resistance, however, won that battle, too. The county commission brought back the public comment time in February, four months later, after a pro-family person joined the public board. The vote was 5-0.
