Health and safety rules implemented during the Trump administration required women get a doctor’s prescription to obtain a do-it-yourself abortion pill, but the Biden administration is saying it won't enforce the rule against delivery of the pills by mail and is implementing a process to reverse it.
Dr. Randall K. O'Bannon of the National Right to Life Committee recalls that Trump's pro-abortion enemies asked the courts to permit abortion by mail.
“In the meantime, when people were doing that,” he recalls, “a couple of these enterprising business people thought they had a chance to make a quick buck by starting their own companies, where they would make these pills available by mail.”
The federal government, however, has recorded several thousand complications serious enough to send women to the hospital. At least 24 women have died.
O’Bannon warns that several companies are still marketing the dangerous abortion pills to women as an easy, quick abortion that shows up in the mail.
“And if they've got problems,” O’Bannon concludes, “they just have to show up at the emergency room, I guess.”
