Christians will gather later this week for the "Pray Vote Stand Summit" at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC. The Summit, October 3-6, is put on by Family Research Council (FRC), with sponsors including FRC Action, AFA Action, and First Liberty Institute.
Brent Keilen of FRC Action tells AFN several notable speakers have been confirmed.
"They include Ben Carson, Mike Huckabee, Michele Bachmann, Pastor Jack Hibbs, Cissie Graham Lynch, some government leaders, some other pastors, some issue experts and a number of others. I think attendees are going to be encouraged," he states.
Many Christians pray, and many Christians stand for truth. However, many Christians don't vote – and Keilen explains why they should.
"One verse that always comes to mind for me on this is [Galatians 6:10] which says, 'As we have opportunity, let us do good.' One of the opportunities we have to do good [as Americans] is to vote; to vote for candidates who are, in fact, going to advance good," says Keilen.
"That's not an opportunity all Christians have around the world," he continues. "It's not an opportunity all Christians have had throughout history, but it is one we have. I think it's our responsibility to steward that wealth."
In addition to individual speeches, the Pray Vote Stand Summit will also include panel discussions on a variety of topics such as protecting family and the unborn, education, the 2024 elections, and Israel.
