"Bible in a Year with Jack Graham" recently hit the number-one spot on Apple's religious podcasts and is also among Apple's top-ranked podcasts in all categories. It tells Bible stories in the order they appear in scripture and features commentary from Graham, pastor of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas.
"There's the reading of pure scripture, and then there's the telling of the Bible stories, and it sounds like Jack Graham and the 'Bible in a Year' is kind of a little bit of both," Dr. Alex McFarland tells AFN. "I think it's a great thing."
Early in his Christian walk, he shares that God gave him an unquenchable thirst for the Bible and the ability to commit it to memory.
"Interaction with the Bible is interaction with the Lord Jesus Christ," McFarland asserts. "Jesus said study the scriptures; they testify of me (John 5:39)."
Though being in God's Word is essential for a Christian, surveys show that biblical illiteracy "has been a concern for a lot of years" in the culture, even the church. So, the apologist submits that anything that gets people interested in the Bible is "a good thing."
Commenting recently on the podcast's success, Pastor Graham said, "It's clear people are hungry for hope." The goal, he added, is to reach one billion people with the truth of the gospel.
