Jurupa Valley High School's girls' volleyball team in California has been in the news for at least the past several months over one of its players: a boy called A.B. Hernandez (featured bottom right). He identifies as transgender.
According to Fox News, at least 10 games have been forfeited against Jurupa Valley with no official reason being given. However, Patriot High School allowed their junior varsity and freshman teams play against Jurupa Valley, but not their varsity team.

Steve McConkey, president of 4 Winds USA, shared his thoughts on the cancellations.
"I'm really pleased. What I see is that there’s people behind the students. It's not just the students that should be taking a stand, but it's the parents behind the students and the teachers and the leaders of these ten teams that have forfeited. And I think they're doing the right thing," says McConkey.
McConkey said he thinks that the whole state of California should be responding to this. He referred to a male pitcher in Minnesota who identified as transgender.
"He won the state championships in the highest bracket, and it's embarrassing to a state. And Minnesota is now fighting this," states McConkey.
McConkey said he hopes more people will stand up to this. Again, he thinks the whole state should be saying 'enough is enough.'
McConkey added that he thinks the public perception of this is rapidly changing in the right direction. He referenced a new report this week that found young people in the U.S. are identifying as transgender less and less.
"Way before Trump and Riley Gaines, even over in Europe, they were starting to question the transgender surgeries and all this nonsense. The United Nations even said ‘boy, we wonder about this transgender athlete thing.’ Then, when I saw that, I knew that it was eventually going to fade out," says McConkey.
He further pointed out the Olympic Committee will soon outlaw transgender athletes. The United States Olympic Committee already has.
