Speaking to American Family News, Zach Snow with the National Shooting Sports Foundation, explained why people should make time for trigger time.
"August is National Shooting Sports Month. A month-long celebration of the shooting sports and our second amendment freedoms. This is our ninth year celebrating the campaign and we're encouraging all target shooters, gun owners, to head to your local range to celebrate the shooting sports with some trigger time on the range. We also encourage people to bring somebody new and help grow our sports by introducing family and friends to the joys of shooting sports."

Snow then explained how shooting sports benefit not only the economy, but the environment as well.
"The firearm industry plays an integral part within the economy, specific to our conservation efforts nationwide. Firearm manufacturers and ammunition manufacturers pay an excise tax that goes specifically to U.S. fish and wildlife and then it's disseminated to state agencies to help with their operational budgets. Through these efforts, we have helped to bring back a variety of wildlife species that were near extinction."
He ended with a call to visit the range.
"For those that want to get out and celebrate, visit LetsGoShooting.org. We have a host range map that includes a list of all the businesses throughout the country that have signed on to participate with us. Many of them are offering different promotions or special events to help boost participation, and if there isn't a range listed near you, visit WhereToShoot.org. That is our comprehensive list of shooting ranges across the country. Find a range near you and head on out."
