The governor of Illinois has been labeled the most radical pro-abortion governor in America.

The label came from state representative Adam Niemerg during the recent pro-life march in Springfield.

"We need a new governor," added Niemerg. "We need to restore parental notification. We need to return to reasonable in the state of Illinois."

As Neimerg spoke, a small crowd of hecklers used an amplifier to chant, “We won’t go back.” The large assembly broke out in laughter when the state representative paused and responded to the interrupters, “Well, could you go back a couple of blocks?”

Pritzker, JB, (Illinois Governor) Pritzker

After the lawmakers slammed Pritzker’s policies, the crowd heard from an obstetrician gynecologist hospitalist, a university biologist, a Roman Catholic bishop, and an ordained Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod district president, a pregnancy help counselor, and a pro-life student. Each took the stage to defend the sanctity of human life and decried proposed Illinois anti-life legislation.

When AFN reached out to Mary Kate Zander of Illinois Right to Life, she said the said thing is Governor Pritzker would be proud of the title.

"He has continued to increase funding, increase support, increase access for abortion providers and women seeking abortions all throughout the state of Illinois," said Zander. "So, it's really a shame that he just does not see how murderous his actions are."

Meanwhile, Zander encouraged pro-lifers in Illinois to engage with their legislators no matter where the governor falls on abortion.

"If they're not hearing from us we can't fault them for making bad choices when it comes to how they vote,” she said.

The other side of the coin

The reverse is also true.

“If they're hearing from us, and we're putting that pressure on them, then they're held accountable and that's what we need to do," said Zander. "Everyone that is interested in getting involved or is interested in doing something to forward pro-life convictions in the state of Illinois, I would encourage them to reach out to your legislators because they need to hear from you, they need to know where you stand on the issue."
